PSRS pension income is not taxable in Missouri if you did not live in Missouri during the calendar year. The Missouri Department of Revenue recently sent notices to individuals who received an IRS Form 1099-R from us, but did not file a Missouri income tax return.

If you received such a notice and you did not file a return because you did not live in Missouri at any time during the year, you should note this information on the tax notice and return it to the Missouri Department of Revenue. This should resolve the issue.

If you were a Missouri resident and you did not file a return, you should talk to a tax preparer or call the Missouri Department of Revenue to resolve the issue.
